NPA points location of an arms cache in Mt. Province

FORT MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija - A certain alias Dennis, an NPA member, who belonged to the Komiteng Larangang Guerrilla Abra-Mt. Province-Ilocos Sur of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG), who voluntarily returned to the folds of the law last May 2022 pointed to the location of an arms cache at Sitio Mabito, Brgy Mainit, Bontoc, Mountain Province on Wednesday, April 12.

Composite elements of the 69th Infantry (Cougar) Battalion, Philippine Army along with the troops from 702nd Infantry (Defender) Brigade, 71st Infantry (Kaibigan) Battalion, 54th Infantry (Magilas) Battalion, and personnel from Mt. Province Provincial Police Office upon learning the information immediately proceeded to the location and recovered one M16 rifle 5.56mm M16A1; one M16 rifle 5.56 (COLT); and 20 pieces of 5.56mm live ammunition.

Major General Andrew D. Costelo, commander of the 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division, Philippine Army lauded the continued cooperation and sincerity of alias “Dennis” whom he considered a genuine advocate of peace.

“We appreciate the cooperation and sincerity of alias ‘Dennis’ in effecting change that contributes to the maintenance of peace and security in the Mt. Province. Ang kanilang pagbabalik sa pamahalaan ay hudyat ng kanilang sinsirong pagbabagong buhay sa pamamagitan ng kanilang pakikipagtulongan sa mga otoridad upang matuldukan na ang insurhensiya sa lugar,” Maj. Gen. Costelo said.

Meanwhile, the commander commended the successful operation that contributes largely to the peace and security in Mt. Province and assured that they will be relentless in their pursuit of clearing the communities against the clout of the CTG.
