FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The
11 Infantry Division "Alakdan Troopers"
welcomes its new commander in a Change of Command Ceremony today, August 18, 2020 at Camp Don Basilio Navarro, Zamboanga City.Maj. Gen. Corleto S. Vinluan relinquished his position to Brig. Gen. William N. Gonzales in the ceremony presided by Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Cirilito E. Sobejana.
Gonzales served as Commander of the First Scout Ranger Regiment prior to his assumption. He also served as Assistant Chief of Staff for Education and Training (G8) of the Philippine Army and as Commandant of the Officer Candidate School, Training and Doctrine Command. A member of Philippine Military Academy “Makatao” Class of 1989, Gonzales holds a Masters in Management in Public Administration.
Under Vinluan’s leadership, the Alakdan Division and Joint Task Force Sulu neutralized 169 Abu Sayyaf Group personalities including foreign terrorists, recovered 212 firearms, and prevented the detonation of a suicide bomber last 2019. He has also led the Light Reaction Regiment, Special Operations Command; Armed Forces of the Philippines Joint Special Operations Group; and National Capital Region Regional Community Defense Group, Army Reserve Command. Vinluan, a member of PMA “Maringal” Class of 1988, will now serve as the commander of the Western Mindanao Command.
“Sa lahat ng opisyal, kawal, at kawani ng 11ID, panatilihin ninyo ang sigla at sigasig sa pagtupad ng inyong tungkulin kasama ang inyong bagong pinuno. Sa ating pagtugon na tapusin ang terorismo sa lalong madaling panahon, mas paigtingin pa ninyo ang kakayahang hanapin, ipitin, at ubusin ang kalaban, at ipagpatuloy ang panalo habang pinatutupad natin ang mabuting pamamahala ng ating hanay,” said Sobejana in his remarks. #
