Army Chief of Engineer retires after decades of faithful military service

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Army Chief of Engineer (ACE) retires from the service here today, June 22, 2021.
Army Commanding General Maj. Gen. Andres Centino presided the turnover of leadership from the outgoing ACE Col. Lawrence Carreon to incoming ACE Col. Proceso Rebancos.
Col. Rebancos was the Deputy of the Office of the Army Internal Auditor prior to his designation. He is a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Bantay Laya” Class of 1994 and holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree. He also held various key positions in the 52nd and 51st Engineer Brigade and the 4th Infantry Division. Col. Rebancos also served as the Command Engineer for the Civil Relations Service, Armed Forces of the Philippines and as the Commanding Officer of 544th Engineer Combat Battalion. He also completed the Engineer Officer Advance Course, Command and General Staff Course, and Master in Public Management Major in Development Security.
On the other hand, Col. Carreon was commissioned in 1989 after graduating from the Officer Candidate Course. He served as the ACE for three years and under his stint, Army Corps of Engineers completed 250 base development projects, and 11 government and non-government projects in support to AFP’s development campaign to promote development in conflict-affected and geographically isolated areas. As the ACE, he provides assistance to the Commanding Generals of the Army in regards to planning, policy formulation, and supervision of engineer programs, projects, and activities. Col. Carreon is set to retire after his 33-year service in the Army.
The OACE has provided combat support in terms of mobility, counter-mobility, and survivability to assist civil work programs and disaster relief operations in responding to national calamities, the Marawi and Zamboanga sieges, and the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Against the backdrop of never-ending change and transformation, the Philippine Army’s purpose remains constant—to wage and win wars and thereby successfully serve the people and secure the land. This, however, necessitates us not only to excel in combat but also in nation-building. Let us always strive to deliver excellence. Doing so, as one team army, we shall realize our vision of a world-class Army that is a source of national pride,” said the CGPA.#
