Miranda is the 58th Commanding General of the Philippine Army. He is a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Matikas” Class of 1983. He has a Master’s Degree in both National Security and Business Administration.
Prior to his appointment as the Commanding General of the Philippine Army, he was the Vice Chief of Staff and Acting Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. He was also the commander of the General Headquarters and Headquarters Command, AFP in 2013, 7th Infantry Division in 2015, and Northern Luzon Command, AFP in 2016.
Miranda also commanded the 25th Infantry Battalion during the Army’s all out war against the southern secessionists. Later on, he headed the Task Force Gensan and the 1002nd Infantry Brigade.
Miranda led the Army as it provided support to the AFP in its fight against the Daesh inspired Maute Group in Marawi City that began on May 23, 2017. The Army immediately provided additional Army forces to augment military units on the battleground. To provide maximum support to the Joint Operations in Marawi, the 1st Logistics Support Brigade was activated that served as the logistics hub in the area.
Miranda served in the Army for 38 years during which he received numerous awards such as the Philippine Legion of Honor, Gold Cross Medals, Distinguished Conduct Star, Distinguished Service Stars, and other badges and awards from both the military organizations and civilian institutions.#
