FORT BONIFACIO, Taguig City – The Philippine Army (PA) mapped out its comprehensive six-year International Military Affairs Plan aimed at strengthening defense partnerships and enhancing the organization’s capabilities to address evolving security challenges in a strategic planning workshop convened by the Office of International Military Affairs at the Headquarters Philippine Army, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City on November 29, 2024.
In his keynote remarks, Army Chief Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido emphasized the importance of achieving interoperability with the Philippine Army's partner armies in various operations. He also called on Army international military affairs planners to bolster PA’s humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR) with its ASEAN counterparts, emphasizing land forces' crucial role at the forefront of disaster management and emergency response.
The Strategic Roadmap aligns with the guidance of the Commander-in-Chief, President Ferdinand R Marcos Jr, to the Philippine Army to enhance its engagement with foreign partners as he stressed in his message during the Army's Change of Command ceremony last August 2023 that "the entirety of our Army should enhance its interoperability and communications as well as to learn best practices through joint training and exercises, which we intend to expand further.”
The six-year Strategic International Military Affairs Plan's timeline covering 2025 to 2031 will focus on the Philippine Army’s participation in bilateral training exercises, activities, and subject matter expert exchanges with partner nations.
