8ID Observes 18-Day Campaign to End VAW

 

The Command has instituted a Gender-Based Violence (GBV) referral system by handling GBV cases within the organization and by providing necessary assistance and services to survivors and victims of this kind of violence.
During the ceremony, Brig. Gen. Cesar M. Idio, Assistant Division Commander, 8ID quoted the message of the Commanding General, Philippine Army, “The Philippine Army, through the office of the Army Gender and Development, crafted the Philippine Army Gender-Based Violence Referral System in compliance with the mandates of the international conventions and local laws. This gives emphasis to our pursuit in achieving violence against women-free community. Likewise, the GBVRS gives priority to the defense and protection of both men and women in uniform against gender-based offenses and help them to attain justice and emotional and psychological healing. The Philippine Army envisions the eventual eradication of violence against women. It is not impossible to end this atrocious wrongdoing. Together, let us stand and break the silence of violence. Let us protect our women.”
