Troops from the 39th Infantry Battalion (39IB), 10th Infantry Division rescued 60 school children and village folk who were stranded after a flashflood swept through Barangay Malasila, Makilala, North Cotabato on February 14, 2023.
39IB troops rescued 40 schoolchildren who were on their way home when the flood swept through Sitio Balawan in Barangay Malasila. Moreover, 39IB troops also rescued 20 village folk who were affected by the overflowing of the Malasila River.
The rescued village folk are now staying at the barangay evacuation shelter while the rescued school children are now with their families, according to 39IB.
The Army leadership lauded the 39IB troops for their commitment to save lives amid calamities and serve the Filipino people beyond the battlefield.
