Army welcomes new RESCOM commander

The Philippine Army installed a commander of the Reserve Command (RESCOM) on February 27, 2023 at Camp General Mariano Riego de Dios, Tanza, Cavite.
 
Maj. Gen. Romulo A. Manuel assumed as the RESCOM Commander in a Relinquishment and Assumption of Command ceremony. Maj. Gen. Manuel is a member of the Philippine Military Academy "Bigkis-Lahi" Class of 1990 and holds a Master in Business Administration from Xavier University and Master in Public Management from the Development Academy of the Philippines. Prior to his new post, Maj. Gen. Manuel served as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Reservist and Retiree Affairs (J9) and Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence (J2) all under the General Headquarters, Armed Forces of the Philippines; Commander of Army Artillery Regiment; and Assistant Chief of Staff for Plans (G5) of the Philippine Army.
Meanwhile, Col. Samuel B. Manzano will assume as the RESCOM Deputy Commander. Prior to his new designation, Col. Manzano served as the RESCOM Acting Commander for three months. He also served as the Deputy Regiment Commander and Chief of the Office of Ethical Standard and Public Accountability (OESPA), all under the Light Reaction Regiment (LRR); Chief of Staff of the First Scout Ranger Regiment (FSRR); and Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence, G2, of the Special Operations Command (SOCOM). Col. Manzano is a graduate of the Officer Preparatory Course and was commissioned in 1993. He holds a Master in Public Management from the Development Academy of the Philippines.
 
The presiding officer Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr. relayed his kind wishes to Maj. Gen. Manuel and Col. Manzano on their new endeavors. He also encouraged RESCOM to give the same level of support to both commanders. “Let us continue to work on making the Army Reserve force even better. Your cooperation with your new commander will enable the entire Philippine Army to better serve the people and secure the land, making the Army becomes a world-class, multi-mission ready, and a cross-domain capable Army,” said Lt. Gen. Brawner Jr. in his message.
