Army Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Potenciano C. Camba and key Headquarters Philippine Army (HPA) officers rendered a courtesy call on House Committee on National Defense And Security Chairman Rep. Raul C. Tupas at the Batasang Pambansa Complex, House of Representatives, Batasan Hills, Quezon City on March 8, 2023.
The courtesy call of the PA delegation to Rep. Tupas is part of the Army legislative stakeholders' engagement thrust. Rep. Tupas, who represents Iloilo’s fifth legislative district, authored bills such as the strengthening of employment rights of reservists; institutionalizing the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) program in Senior High School; and institutionalizing the Philippine Self-Defense Reliance Program.
The discussion between the PA delegation and lawmakers centered on proposed laws that have an impact on the Philippine Army such as the proposed revival of the mandatory ROTC program.
