The 10th Infantry "Agila" Division and the Department of Social Welfare and Development Davao Region (DSWD 11) forged a partnership to provide immediate aid and support to disaster-affected areas in the region during a ceremonial signing at Camp General Manuel T. Yan Sr. in Mawab, Davao De Oro on May 2, 2023.
10ID Commander Maj. Gen. Jose Eriel M. Niembra and DSWD 11 Regional Director Atty. Vanessa B. Goc-Ong signed the partnership on behalf of the two organizations. The partnership aims to fast-track DSWD's disaster response efforts in collaboration with Agila troopers through the prepositioning of food and non-food relief items at a storage facility inside the 10ID headquarters in Mawab. The 230 square-meter facility inside the 10ID headquarters will also augment the local government unit’s emergency response preparedness measures.
In his remarks, Maj. Gen. Niembra emphasized that the Agila Division is not only focused on warfighting but also on other aspects of nation-building, including disaster response. He also highlighted the Philippine Army's crucial role as one of the first responders in natural calamities or man-made disasters.
