5th Infantry Division marks 42nd founding anniversary

The 5th Infantry “Star” Division (5ID) marked its 42nd founding anniversary with Army Vice Commander Maj. Gen. Steve D. Crespillo representing Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr. in a ceremony at Camp Melchor F. Dela Cruz, Upi, Gamu, Isabela on May 15, 2023.
 
502nd Infantry Brigade Commander Brig. Gen. Eugene M. Mata led the arrival honors for Maj. Gen. Crespillo while 5ID Commander Maj. Gen. Audrey L. Pasia received the Army Vice Commander at the 5ID headquarters.
 
The Army Vice Commander also led the blessing and inauguration ceremony for the Tala Park which was part of the series of activities lined up for 5ID's 42nd founding anniversary anchored on the theme “Kaagapay Ng Bayan Para Sa Tuloy-Tuloy Na Pag-ulad At Kapayapaan.” Maj. Gen. Crespillo also took a tour of the recently opened 5ID Museum which showcases and preserves the unit’s rich history.
 
Maj. Gen. Crespillo, in his remarks on behalf of Lt. Gen. Brawner, lauded Star troopers for their vital role in securing Northern Luzon and for implementing development support programs in their area of responsibility. “The dauntless sacrifices of Star troopers have paved the way for a secured environment and socio-economic progress in the region,” the Army Vice Commander said on behalf of the Army Chief.
