Philippine Army fetes 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) contingent

The Philippine Army leadership accorded meritorious promotions and awards to Army athletes who bannered the Philippines in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) during a recognition ceremony at the Philippine Army Officers’ Clubhouse Pavilion, Fort Bonifacio, Metro Manila on May 23, 2023.
 
The Commanding General, Philippine Army (CGPA) Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr. conferred the meritorious one-rank promotion to three Army athletes who brought home gold medals from the recently concluded regional sports meet: Private Crisamuel T. Delfin and Private Dexter S. Bolambao in arnis and Corporal Ronil N. Tubog in Wrestling Men’s Freestyle – 61 kilograms category. Moreover, the CGPA awarded the Meritorious Achievement Medal (MAM) to 10 Army athletes who clinched podium finishes in various 32nd SEAG events and the Military Merit Medal (MMM) to 6 Army athletes who represented the country in the said biennial sporting event.
 
“Today, we do not only recognize their efforts but we also celebrate their victory as they once again bring glory not only to the Philippine Army but also to the country,” Lt. Gen. Brawner said during the ceremony.
 
Army athletes bagged a total of 17 medals to help propel Team Philippines to a fifth-place finish in the 32nd edition of SEAG held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from May 5 to May 17, 2023. Army soldiers won a total of 3 gold medals, 8 silver medals, and 6 bronze medals in the biennial multi-sports event that saw the action of elite athletes from eleven Southeast Asian countries.
