24 Army generals take oath before PBBM

A total of 24 newly promoted Philippine Army generals took their oath before President and Commander-in-Chief Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., at the Malacañan Palace in the City of Manila on June 19, 2023.
 
The President administered the oath of office to newly promoted Philippine Army generals that include the Army Vice Commander Maj. Gen. Steve D. Crespillo, Army Support Command Commander Maj. Gen. Rogelio D. Ulanday, 3rd Infantry Division Commander Maj. Gen. Marion R. Sison, Training and Doctrine Command Commander Maj. Gen. Luis Rex D. Bergante and Army Inspector General Rommel K. Tello. They are also joined by Army officers in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) as follows: AFP Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence Maj. Gen. Ferdinand T. Barandon, AFP Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations Maj. Gen. Fernando M. Reyeg, AFP Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics Maj. Gen. Rey B. Alemania, AFP Deputy Chief of Staff for Retiree and Reservist Affairs Maj. Gen. Joel Alejandro S. Nacnac and AFP Chief Engineer Maj. Gen. Proceso S. Rebancos.
 
24 out of the 40 newly promoted senior officers belong to the Philippine Army which includes 14 one-star generals and 10 two-star generals. Together with major services commanders, Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr. accompanied AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Andres C. Centino during the oath-taking ceremony at the Malacañan Palace.
 
The Commander-in-Chief, in his keynote address, emphasized the AFP officers' role as a big responsibility and a substantial kind of public service. "Your strategic leadership will be the fulcrum and the compass so that the AFP will move in the right direction, guided by the constitution, and the democratic principles that we have all sworn to uphold," President Marcos remarked.
