CGPA gives unwavering support to Army’s servant leaders

The Commanding General Philippine Army (CGPA) Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr., conveyed the command’s full support to the graduating officer candidates, the Army’s servant leaders, during the commencement exercises of the Officers Candidate Course "GAIGMAT" Class 58-2023 at the Headquarters Philippine Army, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City on July 7, 2023.
 
The Army chief expressed his earnest appreciation to the Training and Doctrine Command and the supportive parents of the graduates. Lt. Gen. Brawner also reminded that the command will always give its utmost assistance to the incoming platoon leaders, “The Philippine Army is ready to support and guide you.
Congratulations to all of you.”
 
The OCC class name GAIGMAT stands for Gabay na Iginawad ang sarili bilang Makabayang Tinatangi. It is a Visayan word that means alert and watchful. The 106 graduating officer candidates comprised 83 males and 23 females who were licensed professional teachers, engineers, criminologists, medical technologists, psychometricians, and dieticians.
 
The Officer Candidate Course (OCC) is a one-year training held every June and December by the Officer Candidate School for aspiring Army officers who have completed a four-year bachelor’s degree in specialized fields. The OCC administers the Integrated Basic Officer Leader Course, composed of Basic Military Training, Officer Training, and Army War Fighting Functions Training.
