New Army Vice Commander assumes office

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila– The Philippine Army installs Maj. Gen. Rizaldo B. Limoso as the new Vice Commander succeeding Maj. Gen. Robert M. Arevalo during a Change of Chief of Office Ceremony held here Monday, February 18, 2019. The ceremony was presided by the Commanding General, Philippine Army, Lt. Gen. Macairog S. Alberto.

Maj. Gen. Limoso is a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Sinagtala” Class of 1986. He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Ateneo de Manila University and Applied Finance from the University of Melbourne in Australia. He also completed Strategic Human Resource Management Course at Asian Institute of Management and a graduate of General Staff Course at the Armed Forces of the Philippines Command and General Staff College.

The new Vice Commander started his military career as a platoon leader of the 18th Infantry “Deo et Patria” Battalion deployed in Mindanao. He then moved up in his career ladder and held various significant positions in the AFP. Significantly, he was designated as the Chief of AFP Resource Management Office in 2017 before being reassigned as Chief, Office of the Financial Management, AFP on the following year.

“To the officers, enlisted personnel, and civilian workforce of the HPA family, thank you for your full support and cooperation during those years we have worked together,” said Maj. Gen. Arevalo in his relinquishment speech. “There is a lot of learning ahead, so remain focused and persistent in being trust-worthy public servants and ambassadors of genuine army transformation. Keep carrying on!” he added.

On the other hand, Maj. Gen. Limoso accepted the challenge of being the new Vice Commander and said, “in line with the guidance provided by our commanding general to pursue the Army’s capability upgrade program which would include the Army’s intelligence capabilities, information communication technology (ICT) development, information operations, and reservist forces, I commit to remain steadfast and focused in our efforts to further support these thrusts in order to ensure that the army will always accomplish its multi-faceted, present, and future missions.”

Lt. Gen. Alberto for his part, congratulated both the honorees. In his message he said, “to the men and women of the HPA, the challenge continues for all of us, to sustain our momentum in building our capability as formidable force provider and as a dynamic organization for peace and progress”.
