FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Philippine Army showcased a static display featuring Special Operating Forces during the annual fun run of the University of the Philippines Diliman Reserve Officers’ Training Corps on April 7, 2019 at the UP Diliman Campus.

At the request of Cadet Lt. Col. Bing Bong Salinas, UPD-ROTC Corps Commander, personnel from the Special Forces Regiment (Airborne), Scout Ranger Regiment and Army Aviation Battalion, in complete uniform and equipment, were present as part of the capability static and kinetic display at the event. The 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division Band provided musical entertainment to the participants.

The participants for the 7th Kagitingan Run came from various units of the Armed Forces of the Philippines such as AFP Reserve Command, 51st Engineer Brigade, Philippine Navy, Philippine Air Force, and the Philippine Army. Runners from other government and civilian agencies partipated as well. The commander of the Army Reserve Command, Brig. Gen. Rolando Rodil and several Army reservists who are UPD-ROTC alumni also participated in the fun run.

The Army recognizes the important role that the youth will play in our society and encourages them to positively contribute for the greater good. The cadets of the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps are being trained not only to defend the country in times of war, but more important, to contribute to nation building in times of peace. Leadership and selfless service are the core values that the Army hopes to instill in the youth in order to prepare them as they take on bigger responsibilities and as the future of this nation.#
