Army shooters bring home 22 medals from AARM 2019

FORT ANDRES BONIFACIO, Taguig City – The Philippine Army shooting team who brought home a total of 22 medals during ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet 2019 held in Indonesia from November 14 to 27.

In the closing ceremony held on Nov. 20, the Army shooting team with 34 members headed by Col. Roberto S. Huet presented to the Philippine Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Macairog S. Alberto, and other ASEAN Chiefs of Armies, the medals comprised of six gold, seven silver, and seven bronze from the team events, and one gold, one silver for the individual events. The competitions during the AARMY 2019 include the pistol (men & women), rifle/carbine and machine gun matches. For the team events, the shooters who won the gold are Technical Sergeant Angelo Bonagua, Sergeant Jayson Paden, Corporal Edrick Domingo,Corporal Jenavic Marayag, Private First Class Jan Hendrick Alvez,and Private First Class Joker So-ang. Those who won silver are Staff Sergeant Jay Amita, Sergeant Levi Jordan Bassig, Sergeant Hector Chua, Sergeant Michael Paz, Sergeant Jayson Paden, Corporal Edrick Domingo, Private First Class Joker So-ang, Private First Class Michael Aguanta, and Private First Class Margie Corpuz.. Winners of bronze are Technical Sergeant Angelo Bonagua, Staff Sergeant Jay Amita,Corporal Junever Antonio, Private First Class Amera Lim, Private First Class Joker So-Ang and Private First Class Margie Corpuz. For the individual event, Corporal Junever Antonio won gold and Technical Sergeant Angelo Bonagua won silver. The AARM is an annual shooting competition participated by 10 different Southeast Asian nations, namely: Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Singapore, Myanmar, Thailand, Brunei Darrusalam, and Malaysia. This year’s competition is hosted by the Indonesian Armed Forces. AARM 2020 will be hosted by the Royal Brunei Land Forces.
