Army honors CSAFP with testimonial parade and review

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Philippine Army (PA) holds a testimonial parade and review in honor of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff, Gen. Noel S. Clement at ROTC Hunters Parade Ground today, December 18.

Clement, who assumed as the 52nd AFP Chief of Staff last September, is set to retire from the service in January 2020 upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 56.

During the ceremony, Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Gilbert I. Gapay lauded Clement’s 39 years of service, highlighting his commandership roles from battalion to Chief-of-Staff level that greatly contributed to the overall success of the Filipino forces’ mandate. “[He] is known to lead by example and is also a father figure to many for he always prioritized the welfare of his people,” noted Gapay.

On the other hand, Clement recalled the challenging life in the Army that made him realize the enormous responsibility of being a military leader. ”Each soldier in the Army has a role to play, do not underestimate or undervalue your contribution. Your work is important to the Army’s mission,” said Clement as he addresses the troops as for the last time. “Remember our duty to put God, country, and people above ourselves,” added Clement as he also extended his gratitude to the command and his family.

“I have full trust that as I will be leaving my post, the men and women of the Philippine Army are always dependable, capable, and bearers of the brand of excellence that a world-class Armed Forces possesses,” said Clement.#
