CGPA lauds fall of top Central Luzon CPP-NPA leaders

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila - The Commanding General of the Philippine Army, Lt. Gen. Gilbert I. Gapay expresses his congratulations to all personnel involved in the neutralization of two top-ranking Communist Party of the Philippines - New People's Army leaders in Novalichez, Quezon City today, December 19.

Combined police and military elements orchestrated a joint law enforcement operation to arrest Eleuterio Sadyaw Agmaliw a.k.a. Omeng and Freddie Daileg a.k.a. Poldo in their safehouse by virtue of arrest warrants for destructive arson, murder and frustrated murder, and rebellion.

During the apprehension however, the suspects fired at the arresting officers and a gunfight ensued for 45 minutes. The two suspects along with a still unidentifed person were killed while two PNP personnel were wounded. Recovered from the scene were an M16 rifle with magazine and ammunition, a cal. 38 revolver, two hand grenades, improvised explosive device components, cellphones, a laptop, and subversive documents.

"This accomplishment is largely attributed to our efforts of capacitating our forces for greater mission effectiveness and excellent performance. We assure the public that capacitating our forces is a continous effort, and coupled with the support of our people we will be able to accomplish more in the pursuit of lasting peace," said Gapay.
