Army sends off Officer Preparatory Course trainees

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Philippine Army sends off today 66 trainees of the six-month Officer Preparatory Course (OPC) to take place at the Training and Doctrine Command, Camp O’Donnell, Capas Tarlac.

The Director of the Army Personnel Management Center, Col. Eliglen F. Villaflor led the oath taking ceremony and training send-off of the OPC Class 71-2019 held at the Headquarters Philippine Army Grandstand. The class is composed of 45 males and 21 females. Of the trainees, 27 are former enlisted personnel, of which 20 are males and 7 are females.

“Your desire to be of service to the nation is unwavering as you pursued for your commissionship. Now, your perseverance and resilience are all in display as you have climbed another hill in your quest to be officers of the regular force,” said Villaflor.

The trainees taking up the OPC are members of the Army reserve force who have passed the OPC screening process which involves various exams, interviews, physical, emotional and mental fitness assessment.

“I would like to congratulate all of you for making it this far. I encourage you to start your career right by giving your best during your six-month training,” he added.

The trainees came from varied backgrounds ranging from Criminology, Education, Information Technology, Engineering, Political Science, among others.

“The Philippine Army aims to recruit the best and the brightest officers who are fit to perform the mandate of serving the people and securing the land.
