FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Philippine Army troops assisted in repacking at least six truckloads of goods for Taal evacuees, donated by citizens through the different Landers Superstore within Metro Manila, here on January 15.
There has been an outpour of donations from citizens since the Landers Superstore accepted relief goods through its stores and website. The effort was launched after the company itself donated 675,000 worth of goods that was able to help around 200 families in Batangas. The Philippine Army provided mobility and manpower to the company to ensure the quick repacking and distribution of the goods to the evacuees.
With the help of 2Lt. Matteo Guidicelli (Res), Landers committed to donate goods and also facilitated the gathering of donations. Currently, the donation drive is still on going as the alert level in Taal remains critical with towns within the 14 kilometer radius from it are now on lockdown.
“The Philippine Army is glad to extend its support to private individuals and entities whose benevolence help ease the situation of those currently suffering from Taal’s unrest. At this time of calamity, our forces, both regular and reserve, are working hand in hand to deliver the services our countrymen needed,” said Lt. Gen. Gilbert I.
