CGPA commends 10ID for neutralizing NPA leader

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Philippine Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Gilbert I. Gapay commended the 10th Infantry Division (ID) for neutralizing a New People’s Army rebel leader on February 14, 2020 in Barangay Malabuan, Makilala, North Cotabato.

The 39th Infantry Battalion, 1002nd Brigade, 10ID in cooperation with the Cotabato City Police and Makilala Municipal Police were serving a warrant of arrest to NPA rebel leader Juanita Tacadao for facing various criminal charges on murder and robbery in Davao del Sur. Tacadao is a regional, logistics and finance head of the NPA’s Far South Mindanao Guerilla Font.

The rebel leader refused the arrest, prompting a firefight which resulted to her demise. The government forces recovered an M14 rifle, a Cal. 38 with six rounds of ammunition, one Improvised Explosive Device, two blasting caps, and one detonating cord.

“Through good leadership, our troops effectively worked together and delivered another victory,” said Gapay. “The 10th Infantry Division’s accomplishment demonstrates the strength and will of the Philippine Army in quelling the armed component of the communist terrorist group who fail to show sincerity and commitment in pursuing a genuine and meaningful peace,” he added.#
