2ID troops clash with NPA terrorists in CamNorte

CAMP CAPINPIN, Tanay, Rizal – Soldiers from the Army's 2nd Infantry Division (2ID) encountered again the terrorist NPA in the boundary brgys Pagasa and Dumagmang both of Labo, Cam Norte, the morning of November 30.
 
According to the 201st Infantry Brigade report, the troops were conducting routine security operations in response to the residents' report on the presence of armed groups in the area.
 
The firefight broke at around 7:43 AM when the terrorists fired upon the approaching troops.
 
The fight lasted for about 25 minutes after the terrorists scampered, bringing along an undetermined number of their wounded comrades.
 
No casualty was reported from the government side.
 
The troops were able to recover one M16 rifle, one magazine with 16 rounds of ammunition, two cellular phones, personal belongings, food items, and a volume of subversive documents.
 
The other day, 2ID also encountered terrorists operating in Famy, Laguna leaving one female terrorist dead, and a recovery of a short firearms.
 
2ID commander Maj. Gen. Cerilo Balaoro Jr said in a statement that the series of encounters in the area is a result of the continuous support of the people.
 
He also said that the remnants of the terrorists operating in the area are now losing ground in trying to regain their forces in Southern Tagalog and the adjacent areas of the 2ID.
 
Maj. Gen. Balaoro lauded the troops for the successful feat and for selflessly carrying out their mission of protecting the people.
 
He also extended his gratitude to the people for continuously helping achieve lasting peace in their community.
