2ID troops encounter anew, war materials recovered

CAMP CAPINPIN, Tanay, Rizal – The Army's 2nd Infantry (Jungle Fighter) Division (2ID) clashed anew with the terrorist NPA in a hinterland village of Brgy. Villa Pag-asa in Bansud town in Oriental Mindoro, Tuesday Wednesday afternoon, November 5.

A report reaching this headquarters from the 203rd Infantry Brigade (203Bde) disclosed that the troops belonging to the 76th Infantry Battalion (76IB) were conducting security operations in the vicinity at around 5:10 pm when they encountered the terrorists operating in the area.
The firefight lasted for twenty (20) minutes before the terrorists fled.

No one was reported hurt on the side of the government during the said encounter while it is still being verified on the terrorists’ side.

However, the troops were able to recover an M16 rifle, an M16 rifle upper receiver, three hand grenades, a detonator switch, three magazines for the M16 rifle, and 30 rounds of ammunition.

The 2ID commander Maj. Gen. Cerilo Balaoro Jr states that the said feat was able to disrupt the plans of the terrorist NPA to sow fear in the community.

He also reiterated his call to the remaining NPA and their allies to give up their senseless fight and return to the folds of the law.

"The government offers a helping hand through the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) for their brand-new start," adds Maj. Gen. Balaoro.

The same terrorist group recently suffered major setbacks as a result of their leaders’ arrest, recovery of their arms caches, and growing number of areas being declared stable internal peace and security due to the endless support of the people.
