NPA leader dies after resisting arrest in Quezon

CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal - A leader from the New People's Army died when he resisted arrest in Sariaya, Quezon on Sunday, July 30.

A law enforcement operation by the 59th Infantry "Protector" Battalion, Batangas PNP, and Sariaya PNP was launched in response to information from concerned citizens regarding armed individuals extorting revolutionary taxes from contractors working on road projects in Barangay Lutucan, Malabag. After positively identifying one of the perpetrators as Isagani Isita alias Alkin, a wanted member of the Communist Terrorist Group under Sinag 2, SRMA 4C of the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee with multiple arrest warrants, they immediately conducted the operation to serve the three arrest warrants to Isagani Isita alias Alkin, an NPA leader from the Sinag 2 of the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee. Isagani Isita alias Alkin resisted arrest by firing upon the arresting officers. Isagani Isita’s demise resulted thereof.

Among the items recovered by the troops were one M16 rifle, a caliber 22 rifle, 28 live ammunition, a magazine, and three fired cartridge cases of caliber 5.56mm.

In a statement, 2nd Infantry "Jungle Fighter" Division Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong emphasized the duty of the security forces to protect communities from the atrocities of the CPP-NPA-NDF. He expressed that while they do not rejoice in the loss of fellow Filipinos who have joined the Communist Terrorist Groups, the safety and well-being of communities will always come first.

He also urged the remaining NPAs to surrender and avail the benefits of the government's programs before they suffer the same fate as their comrades.
