Rizal province officially declared insurgency-free

CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal – The province of Rizal has officially been declared insurgency-free following the ceremonial proclamation of its Stable Internal Peace and Security (SIPS) status in Antipolo City on Monday, September 23.
 
The historic event which was held at the Rizal Provincial Capitol Complex and led by Rizal Provincial Governor Hon. Nina Ricci Ynares, was graced by prominent figures from both government and non-government sectors, including National Security Adviser Sec. Eduardo Año, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region IV-A Regional Director Ariel Iglesia, League of Mayors President Hon. Cesar Ynares.
 
They were joined by Southern Luzon Command (SOLCOM) Commander Lt. Gen. Facundo Palafox IV, Southern Luzon Area Police Command Commander PLt. Gen. Jonnel Estomo, 2nd Infantry "Jungle Fighter" Division (2ID) Commander Brig. Gen. Cerilo Balaoro Jr., 202nd Infantry “Unifier” Brigade Officer-in-Charge (202Bde) Col. Jess Alcudia, and 80th Infantry "Steadfast" Battalion (80IB) Commander Lt. Col. Mark Anthony Ruby.
 
Highlights of the event included the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding and the unveiling of the SIPS marker, symbolizing the collective commitment to maintaining peace and security in the region.
The declaration follows the successful attainment of SIPS status by all 13 municipalities and 1 city within the province.
 
In a statement, Brig. Gen. Balaoro emphasized that the declaration of Rizal as insurgency-free is a testament to the strong collaboration between all levels of government, various stakeholders, government agencies, the communities, and the security sector over the years.
 
He highlighted that through their collective efforts, they were able to address the root causes of insurgency and create an environment where peace and security can thrive, fostering sustainable development.
Brig. Gen. Balaoro also noted that this proclamation is expected to boost economic activity in the province, attract investments, and improve the overall quality of life for the people of Rizal, with peace now serving as the cornerstone for progress.
 
Rizal’s formal recognition as insurgency-free now completes the list of provinces in Region IV-A (CALABARZON), joining Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, and Quezon, which have previously achieved the same status.
