Colonel Marces Tolarba Gayat INF (GSC) PA is the current Deputy Commander of the Civil-Military Operations Regiment, Philippine Army. Prior to joining the CMOR family, he was the Chief of the Research and Data Division of the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, J3 at General Headquarters, Armed Forces of the Philippines. He has been the Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations, G3 and for Personnel, G1 of the 1st Infantry Division, Philippine Army. Colonel Gayat also served as the Commanding Officer of 35th Infantry and 5th Infantry Battalions under the same Division. Not only serving locally, he also served as a United Nations Military Observer in Ivory Coast, West Africa assisting in the implementation of peace agreement in the area. Colonel Gayat was a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy “Maalab” Class of 1993.
During his early years in the military, he underwent several trainings and education, such as the Scout Ranger Orientation Course; Infantry Officer Basic and Advance Courses; Basic Intelligence Course; Financial Management Course; Command and General Staff Course and Higher Defense Orientation Course at the Army War College, Mhow, India. He similarly pursued other areas of specialization, among which, are Psyops Course, strategic planning, code of ethics, peacekeeping, project management, networking essentials, and computer hardware maintenance course.
Colonel Gayat is also a graduate of Master of Public Administration at the National College of Public Administration and Governance, University of the Philippines - Diliman; Master of Public Management at the Development Academy of the Philippines, and Strategic Management Course at the Asian Institute of Management. He also attended the Essential Skills in People Management Course at the Ateneo de Manila University and the National Security Studies Program at the National Defense College of the Philippines.
For almost 30 years in the military service, Colonel Gayat has served in various duty assignments across the country, as well as in foreign deployment. As testament to his meritorious service, he is a recipient of various awards and commendations, most notable of which are his Distinguish Service Stars and Medals, Meritorious Achievement Medal, the Chief of Staff Commendation Medal and Ribbon, Bronze Cross Medals, Silver Wing Medal, Gawad sa Kaunlaran, Civic Action Medals, and United Nations Service Medals.
Colonel Gayat is happily married to Emelie Franzuela Gayat and they are blessed with a daughther, Gizane Marie.
