Army Artillery Regiment welcomes new commander

The Army Artillery Regiment (AAR) welcomed its new commander in a Change of Command ceremony at the regiment’s headquarters in Fort Magsaysay, Palayan City, Nueva Ecija on August 22, 2024.

Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido presided the handing over of responsibilities from outgoing AAR Commander Brig. Gen. Francis Anthony M. Coronel to incoming AAR Commander Col. Hubert S. Acierto.

Lt. Gen Galido, in his keynote remarks, lauded Brig. Gen. Coronel for his contributions to the development of key fires manuals that bolster the Army’s capability enhancement and acquisition of modern artillery and air defense systems. Brig. Gen. Coronel is set to take helm of the AFP's Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Financial Management (OJ10, AFP) in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City. “Col. Acierto, AAR is ready to do more under your command. Its doctrine, its firepower platforms, and its capabilities have been recalibrated to meet the demands of our time,” the Army Chief remarked.

It can be noted that AAR is one of the Philippine Army Major Units at the forefront of modernization and the organization's pivot to territorial defense operations.
