1 Militia, 2 CPP-NPA-NDF supporters sever ties with communist group in Quezon
CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal – A Milisyang Bayan member surrender and 2 mass base supporters withdraw their support from the CPP-NPA-NDF from three municipalities of Quezon province on Tuesday, December 18, 2023.
With assistance from the 85th Infantry “Sandiwa” Battalion, Quezon PNP, and Municipal Task Forces to End Local Communist Armed Conflict of Lopez, Buenavista and Mulanay facilitated the surrender of 1 Milisyang Bayan member from Barangay Taisan of Lopez, as well as the formal withdrawal of support of 2 CPP-NPA-NDF supporters from the communist terrorist group in Barangay Del Rosario of Buenavista and Barangay Mabini of Mulanay, respectively.
Through the execution of sworn statements condemning the Communist Terrorist Group and affirming their withdrawal of support from the CNTs, the said individuals expressed their willingness to sever ties with the extremist groups and cooperated with the authorities.
In a statement, 2nd Infantry "Jungle Fighter" Division Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong highlighted the significance of collaboration between the security sector, the local government units, various stakeholders, and the communities in ending local communist armed conflict.
He also encouraged the remaining members of the communist terrorist groups to abandon the armed struggle, assuring them that the government would provide them with the necessary support to rebuild their lives with their families in the folds of the law, and be with their loved ones this Christmas season.
