CAMP CAPINPIN, Tanay, Rizal - The soldiers of the Army's 2nd Infantry (Jungle Fighter) Division (2ID) donated its one-meal allowance to the victims of Typhoon Kristine here, Thursday, October 31.
According to Brigadier General Cerilo Balaoro Jr., commander of 2ID, it is their method of providing more assistance to those affected by the severe weather last week.
“By contributing the equivalent of one meal from the subsistence allowance, or P150.00 for each member, the soldiers of the 2ID are showing their support for the victims of Typhoon Kristine," says Brigadier General Balaoro.
A total of PhP669,450.00 was handed over to GMA Kapuso Foundation through its Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Ms. Rikki Escudero-Catibog during the 2ID's Color Fun Run in consonance to the October Peace 2024.
It can be recalled that last month, same gesture was given by the 2ID wherein PhP794,208.00 were donated to the same foundation to help the victims of Typhoon Carina.
Brigadier General Balaoro clarified that the troops' search, rescue, and retrieval teams remain stationed in the impacted areas to support disaster response and humanitarian relief initiatives.
Brigadier General Balaoro also said that the Army's dedication to helping individuals affected by this tragedy is demonstrated by the group's collective effort and selfless sacrifices, exhibiting compassion and solidarity during these trying times.
The 2ID is helping local government units (LGUs) and other organizations meet the urgent needs of remote areas as directed by the president.
