CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal – The Army's 2nd Infantry (Jungle Fighter) Division wrapped up its October Peace 2024, themed "Matatag na Kapayapaan Para sa Timog Katagalugan", with a series of community-centered events promoting peace, health, and environmental awareness, here, October 31.
This month-long initiative, in partnership with the 2ID Multi-Sector Advisory Board, celebrated the successful declarations of Stable Internal Peace and Security Status across CALABARZON and MIMARO provinces, symbolizing the 2ID's commitment to lasting peace in Southern Tagalog.
The October Peace 2024 events culminated with a Color Fun Run for a Cause, a Puno ng Kapayapaan tree-planting activity, and a Musikapayapaan concert.
The Color Fun Run raised funds to improve St. Martin of Tours Chapel and encouraged a healthy lifestyle. Civilians and soldiers enjoyed the activity, which included raffle prizes and awards.
Meanwhile, the Puno ng Kapayapaan tree-planting event, which emphasizes environmental conservation, simultaneously took place at Camp Capinpin and the San Andres Military Conservation Area.
The final event, Musikapayapaan, brought together military and civilian bands, highlighted by a performance from Army reservist and artist 1Lt. Ronnie Liang, entertaining the public in a spirit of unity.
Among the key personalities who attended the event were Tanay Municipal Mayor Hon. Rex Manuel Tanjuatco and 2ID Multi-Sector Advisory Board (MSAB) Chairperson Ms. Agustiniana Avelino.
Earlier on October 19, the division held a Bike for Peace, showcasing camaraderie between soldiers and civilians, who pedaled in support of regional peace.
During his speech, Major General Cerilo Balaoro Jr expressed his appreciation to their partners in the security sector, the Local Government Units, government agencies, stakeholders, and community members for their continued support in advocating peace and security across Southern Tagalog.
Through October Peace 2024, the 2ID has underscored its enduring commitment to a peaceful and secure Southern Tagalog, fostering unity with the communities it serves.
