1 Militia surrender, turn overs firearm and war materiel in Quezon
CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal – One Milisyang Bayan member voluntary surrendered with a firearm and other war materiel in Quezon on Wednesday, May 3, 2023.
Troops from the 85th Infantry "Sandiwa" Battalion and Quezon PNP facilitated the voluntary surrender of alias Benson, a former member of PLATUN REYMARK, during community visitation in Macalelon, Quezon. Among the items alias Benson surrendered were one M16 Rifle, one short magazine, 12 rounds of ammunition, and one hand grenade. Likewise, Benson revealed that he participated in the ambush last April 2017 in Brgy. Cogorin Ibaba, Lopez, Quezon against the personnel of 85IB.
"We have been intensifying our efforts to end the armed conflict in Quezon with our strong partnership with the LGU and our key stakeholders. We will remain committed to pushing for the government's peace and development efforts for our kababayans in Southern Tagalog." 2nd Infantry "Jungle Fighter" Division Commander Maj. General Roberto S. Capulong said in a statement.
