1 more NPA surrenders with firearm in Batangas
CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal - A member of the New People’s Army yielded to the government forces, bringing with him a firearm on Friday, February 16, 2024.
Troops of the 59th Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division together with Batangas PNP and Rosario PNP facilitated the voluntary surrender of an NPA member and his cal. 38 revolver.
In a statement, the 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong stressed the importance of the government's continued efforts in fostering peace and reconciliation, urging other NPA members to follow suit and lay down their arms.
He also assured them of the government's commitment to provide assistance through the Enhanced Community Local Integration Program which aimed at reintegrating former rebels into mainstream society.
