1 NPA, 4 Militias surrender, 13 supporters break ties with CPP-NPA-NDF in Rizal
CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal - A member of the New People's Army and four Milisyang Bayan members have surrendered while 13 CPP-NPA-NDF supporters have broken their ties with the communist party in a ceremony held in Rodriguez, Rizal on Thursday, September 21, 2023.
With assistance from the 80th Infantry “Steadfast” Battalion, Rizal PNP and Rodriguez PNP, the Rodriquez LGU and Puray Barangay Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict facilitated the surrender of alias Diego, a former member of Platun YGM from the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee, together with 4 MBs as well as the withdrawal of support of 13 CPP-NPA-NDF supporters during a local peace engagement held in the said barangay.
Among the highlights of the said ceremony were the signing of the pledge of commitment of the said personalities and the burning of CPP-NPA-NDF flags. A total of 159 residents also pledged their allegiance to the government and condemned the communist terrorist group.
In a statement, the 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong attributed this development to the growing trust and support of the communities and the unified efforts of the LGUs, key stakeholders, and the security sector. He then called on the remaining rebels and CPP-NPA-NDF supporters to abandon the violent ideologies of the communist party and instead join the government in its pursuit of genuine peace and progress.
