10 NPA members, government forces clash in Quezon
CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal – Government troops encountered around 10 NPA members in Macalelon, Quezon on Friday, March 24, 2023.
Joint government forces from the 85th Infantry "Sandiwa" Battalion, Macalelon PNP, and Quezon PNP, were conducting combat operations at Brgy Vista Hermosa when they encountered around 10 armed personalities believed to be members of Platun Reymark from the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee's Sub-Regional Military Area 4B. A 10-minute firefight ensued that led to the troops to recover one IED, a caliber 45 pistol, two blasting caps, one back pack, and personal belongings from the rebels. Pursuit operations are now ongoing against the fleeing NPA members.
"We are closely working with our PNP counterparts to ensure that the remaining NPA members will not be able to sow terror in our communities. Once again, we urge the remaining rebels to leave the armed struggle and heed our call for peace to help them rebuild their lives with their families," 2nd Infantry "Jungle Fighter" Division Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong said in a statement.
