2-Classroom Kapuso-Type School Building to be built in Quezon Town

CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal – Two-Classroom Kapuso-Type school building will be built in Binibitinan Elementary School, Brgy. Binibitinan, Polillo, Quezon by the GMA Kapuso Foundation, Inc. (GMAKFI), after a MOA Signing and Groundbreaking Ceremony was held on Wednesday, May 10, 2023.

GMAKFI officials led by Ms. Rikki Escudero-Catibog with officials from the Philippine Army led by 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division Commander, MGen. Roberto S. Capulong, 202nd Infantry Brigade Commander, BGen. Cerilo C Balaoro Jr., 51st Engineer Brigade Commander, BGen Antonio C Rota Jr, Polillo local government led by Mayor Angelique E. Bosque, and Department of Education led by Public Schools District Supervisor, Dr. Leonora T. Mopera, spearhead the ceremonial groundbreaking and signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to formally start the project.

Polillo Mayor Bosque thanked GMAKFI for choosing one of her barangays as the beneficiary of the school building project.  She expressed full support of the Polillo government, together with key stakeholders and security partners in initiatives that puts premium in the education of the youth of her town.

            In his remarks, MGen Capulong thanked GMAKFI for initiating the project.  He also extended his gratitude to the Polillo local government for their support, not only in the GMAKFI projects, but most importantly in pursuing the government’s peace initiatives that resulted to the recent declaration of the said town as Stable Internal Peace and Security (SIPS) municipality. He mentioned that the Philippine Army’s 564 Engineer Construction Battalion under LtCol Delos Angeles, and 1st Infantry Battalion under LtCol Escandor will be directly involved to ensure its speedy completion. 

GMAKFI Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Ms. Rikki Escudero-Catibog assured the Polillo community that the school building will be able to withstand heavy rainfall and endure a 300kph wind, as the island is often visited by typhoons. She further added that GMAKFI will be frequently visiting the project and promised its completion in 2 to 3 months.  Catibog thanked other sponsoring entities: Manila Water Foundation, SG SuperGlobe Inc, Cemex, Union Galvasteel, Hanabishi, and Mariwasa. The two-classroom type school building project is estimated to cost at P2.5M.

General Roberto S. Capulong said in a statement.
