2 Militias surrender, 6 supporters break ties with CPP-NPA-NDF in Rizal
CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal - Two Milisyang Bayan members surrendered while 6 CPP-NPA-NDF supporters withdrew their support to the communist party during a ceremony in Rodriguez, Rizal on Friday, October 6, 2023.
The Mascap Barangay Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict headed by its chairman Hon. Marianito Nicasio, with assistance from the 80th Infantry “Steadfast” Battalion and Rodriguez PNP, led the ceremony that saw the surrender of 2 MBs who were part of SDF Platun from the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee, the withdrawal of support of 6 CPP-NPA-NDF supporters from the said barangay, as well as their signing of Pledge of Commitment and burning of CPP-NPA-NDF flags. A total of 185 residents also pledged their allegiance to the government.
Among those in attendance were Rodriguez Mayor Hon. Ronnie Evangelista, 202nd Infantry “Unifier” Brigade Commander Brig. Gen. Cerilo C. Balaoro Jr, and 80IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Erwin Y. Comendador, as well as representatives of partner government agencies.
In a statement, 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong commended the surrenderers and those who withdrew their support to the communist party for heeding the government's call for peace. He added it’s the result of the concerted effort of the various Task Forces to End Local Communist Armed Conflict together with the security sector and the key stakeholders, and the trust and support of the communities.
