2 SPLs, 5 Militias surrender, 16 CPP-NPA-NDF supporters withdraw support in Quezon

CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal- Two Sangay ng Partido sa Lokalidad members, five Milisyang Bayan members have surrendered, and 16 CPP-NPA-NDF supporters has withdrawn support from the Communist Terrorist Group across the municipalities of San Francisco, and San Andres, Quezon, on Sunday, May 21, 2023.

            Joint troops from the 85th Infantry "Sandiwa" Battalion, Quezon PNP, San Francisco PNP, and San Andres PNP provided assistance to the San Francisco, and San Andres Municipal Task Forces to End Local Communist Armed Conflict and facilitated the surrender of two Sangay ng Partido sa Lokalidad members from the Barangays of Ilayang Tayuman and Don Juan Verceles; five Milisyang Bayan members from Barangays of Don Juan Verceles and Butangiad; all of San Francisco, and the withdrawal of support of 12 CPP-NPA-NDF supporters from Barangays of Mabunga, Busdak, Casay, Sto Niño and Poblacion of San Francisco, and 4 others from Barangays of Camflora and Talisay, both of San Andres.  The Municipal Task Forces-ELCAC are led by its respective mayors, namely: Hon   Romulo D Edaño of San Francisco and Hon. Ralph Edward B. Lim of San Andres.  All personalities have signed sworn statements renouncing their support for the CPP-NPA-NDF, condemning the communist terrorist group, and pledging their allegiance to the government.

"The continuous surrender and withdrawal of support from rebel groups across Quezon manifests the growing trust of our kababayans to the government peace initiatives. We will continue to work with our LGUs, key stakeholders and security partners to achieve lasting peace and development in the Southern Tagalog region.", 2nd Infantry "Jungle Fighter" Division Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong said in a statement.
