2ID kicks off training for new recruits

CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal – The 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division, Philippine Army formally opens training for new recruits on Wednesday, May 17, 2023.  

Major General Roberto S Capulong, the Commander of the 2nd Infantry “Jungle fighter” Division led the formal opening of the Candidate Soldier Course Class 764-2023 for 154 new recruits.  Said class is composed of 8 females and 146 males, that will undergo a 16-week Basic Military Training followed by a 7-week specialization training on Infantry Orientation Course at the 2nd Division Training School. 

The course intends to train the new recruits and transform them into competent, confident and capable soldiers guided by the Philippine Army. After the training, they will be able to adapt to the military environment as Jungle Fighters ready to be deployed to the various battalions and brigades of 2ID across the Southern Tagalog Region.

Amongst present were Brigadier General Jose Augusto V Villareal, the Assistant Division Commander of 2ID who gave the welcome remarks; Lt Colonel Jericho Sasing, the Commandant of the 2nd Division Training School, and other general, special and personal staff of the division. Also present during the opening ceremony were the families and friends of the new recruits.       

“This special day marks a very important milestone of your life, today is the start of your military career. You have chosen the right profession, the most noble way of serving the country and fellowmen.  I urge our candidate soldiers to be strong and hurdle the difficult days that lie ahead in your training.  I also ask the families and loved ones of our candidate soldiers to give them the needed morale support so that they will remain focused and inspired to do well in training”, 2nd Infantry "Jungle Fighter" Division Commander Maj. General Roberto S. Capulong said in a statement.
