3 Militias surrender in Quezon
CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal- Three Milisyang Bayan (MB) members have surrendered and withdrawn their support from the CPP-NPA-NDF across the municipalities of San Francisco, and Tagkawayan, Quezon, on Tuesday, May 30, 2023.
Joint troops from the 85th Infantry "Sandiwa" Battalion, Quezon PNP, San Francisco PNP, and Tagkawayan PNP provided assistance to the San Francisco, and Tagkawayan Municipal Task Forces to End Local Communist Armed Conflict and facilitated the surrender and withdrawal of support from the Communist Terrorist Group of a Milisyang Bayan member from Brgy Casay, San Francisco and two MBs from Brgy Casispalan, Tagkawayan, all of Quezon province. The Municipal Task Forces-ELCAC are led by its respectively mayors, namely: Hon. Romulo D Edaño Sr. of San Francisco, and Hon. Luis Oscar T. Eleazar of Tagkawayan. All three personalities have signed sworn statements renouncing their support for the CPP-NPA-NDF, condemning the communist terrorist group, and pledging their allegiance to the government.
"The continuous surrender and withdrawal of support from rebel groups manifests the increasing support of our communities to the government’s peace efforts. With this, we urge the remaining rebels to return to the government’s side and work together to bring peace and development in this part of the region.", 2nd Infantry "Jungle Fighter" Division Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong said in a statement.
