The San Francisco Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, with assistance from the 85th Infantry “Sandiwa” Battalion, San Francisco PNP, and Quezon PNP, facilitated the surrender of three MB members from Sitio Labrahan, Brgy Butanguiad, and Sitio Payaw, Brgy Cawayan 2 as well as the formal withdrawal of support of one resident from Sitio Cayuma in Brgy Cawayan 1.
In a statement, the 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong stated that these developments signify the continuing decline of the communist movement in our area of responsibility, adding that the surrenders and the withdrawal of support demonstrate the effectiveness of the collaborative efforts of the various TF-ELCAC, the security sector, the key stakeholders, and the communities in addressing the root causes of insurgency and in promoting peace and development in Quezon.
He then commended the bravery of those who chose to abandon the armed struggle and embrace peace and urged the remaining rebels to follow suit and take the path towards peace and progress so they may be able to live peacefully with their loved ones.
