3 Militias yield in Quezon
CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal - Three members of Milisyang Bayan surrendered to the government forces in Tagkawayan, Quezon on Saturday, October 28, 2023.
The Tagkawayan Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, with assistance from the 85th Infantry "Sandiwa" Battalion, Quezon PNP, and Tagkawayan PNP facilitated the surrender of alias Jomar, alias Torio, and alias Rocky, all MB members and residents of Sitio Bayabas in Barangay Santo Tomas. They have formally withdrawn their support and voluntarily signed the sworn statements condemning the Communist Terrorist Group.
In a statement, the 2nd Infantry "Jungle Fighter" Division Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong said that “the decision of these individuals to leave the Milisyang Bayan is a significant step towards peace and development in our community. He added that the government is committed to providing them with the necessary support and opportunities to reintegrate into society”.
He added that “the collaboration between the military and local government in convincing these members of the Milisyang Bayan to abandon their support for the Communist Terrorist Group is a positive development in the government's ongoing efforts to achieve lasting peace and stability”.
