Antipolo welcomes mass surrender of Militias, withdrawal of support of CPP-NPA-NDF supporters

 CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal - The Antipolo City Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict welcomed the mass surrender of Milisyang Bayan members as well as the withdrawal of support of CPP-NPA-NDF supporters in Antipolo City, Rizal on Wednesday, August 25, 2023.

With assistance from the 202nd Infantry "Unifier" Brigade, 80th Infantry "Steadfast" Battalion, the Antipolo City LGU and the San Jose Barangay Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict facilitated the surrender, disaffiliation, denunciation and withdrawal of support ceremony of a total of 11 MB members with two shotguns and live ammunitions, 30 couriers, and 20 mass base supporters, and 117 residents at Sitio San Joseph in the said barangay. The program also included signing the pledge of commitment and burning the CPP-NPA-NDF flags.

In a statement, 2nd Infantry "Jungle Fighter" Division Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong attributed the surrender to the unified efforts of the LGUs, and the various government agencies to empower communities to be resilient against insurgency. He also lauded the wise decision of the surrenderers and the residents who have broken ties with the CPP-NPA-NDF.
