Apprehended NPA leader tips-off another arms cache in Batangas, anew

 

CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal- Another information from a recently apprehended NPA leader led to another discovery of arms cache in San Juan, Batangas on Sunday, April 16, 2023.

On March 26, Alfred Manalo alias Sayko, the Platoon leader of SPP KAWING from Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee’s Sub-Regional Military Area 4C was arrested by the government forces during an operation in Barangay Calzada, Balayan, Batangas.

Troops belonging to 59th Infantry "Protector" Battalion conducted combat operation at Brgy Quipot, San Juan, Batangas after Manalo revealed that arms cache was hidden in the area. Among the items recovered by the troops were two Improvised Explosive Devices and landmines.

It can be recalled that just last April 1, IEDs and bombs cache were unearthed by troops and police at Sitio Naambon, Brgy Kaylaway and on April 8 at Sitio Kalabawan, Brgy Mataas na Pulo, both of Nasugbu, Batangas after Manalo revealed the location of where he hid the explosives which were used by the rebels for their raid in Hamilo Coast-Pico de Loro at Barangay Papaya in January 2017.

"We remain committed to pursuing our peace efforts with the help of these former rebels who continuously provided us valuable information that led to these numerous developments. With this, we urge those who are still in arms to surrender and help us bring peace and progress in this part of the country" 2nd Infantry "Jungle Fighter" Division Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong said in a statement.
