Army-PNP foils NPA bomb plot in Quezon
CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal - Troops of the Philippine Army and Philippine National Police foiled bomb plans of the New People’s Army following the recovery of two antipersonnel mines in Calauag, Quezon on Sunday, September 24, 2023.
Acting on information from a concerned citizens regarding buried anti-personnel mines, the 85th Infantry “Sandiwa” Battalion and the Calauag PNP have unearthed two anti-personnel mines at Barangay Kigtan believed to be from Platun Reymark of the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee.
The 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong commended the bravery and cooperation of the members of the community which led to this development and emphasized the importance of collaboration between the community, valued stakeholders, all levels of government, and the security sector in countering threats posed by the communist terrorist groups.
