A terror plot by the New People’s Army was foiled by the 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division after soldiers unearthed an arms cache in General Nakar, Quezon on Saturday, March 9, 2024.
Troops from the 1st Infantry “Always First” Battalion were conducting focused military operations at Sitio Anibongan in Brgy Magsikap when they discovered the said arms cache that included one shotgun, an anti-tank explosive, four anti-personnel mines, 2 hand grenades, and a blasting cap.
In a statement, 2ID Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong emphasized that the discovery of the arms cache has prevented a potentially devastating attack targeting the security forces and civilians.
He then urged local communities to remain vigilant and cooperative in reporting activities of the terrorist group and assured them of 2ID’s unwavering commitment to protecting Southern Tagalog from any form of violence or intimidation planned by the rebels.
