CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal - The Army’s 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division (2ID) captured an arms cache hidden by members of the terrorist NPA in Dingalan, Aurora, yesterday, Saturday, September 28.

While conducting security operations at Sitio Pinamaypayan in Barangay Umiray, soldiers of the 1st Infantry “Always First” Battalion (1IB) received a report from an undisclosed tipster about the said cache.

There, they found a 5.56mm M16 rifle, one shotgun, 6 magazines, and 40 rounds of 5.56mm live ammunition.

In a statement, the 2ID Commander Brig. Gen. Cerilo Balaoro Jr. said that the discovery of the arms cache is a significant blow to the NPA, disrupting their capabilities and weakening their resolve.

He also emphasized the importance of community support and vigilance in combating insurgency, urging citizens to report any suspicious activities.

The seized firearms will be handed over to the proper authorities and undergo forensic examination to aid ongoing investigations further, as the Army continues its operations to neutralize threats posed by insurgent groups in Southern Tagalog.
