Citizen's tip leads to recovery of 2 anti-vehicle mines in Occidental Mindoro
CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal - A tip from a concerned citizen resulted in the recovery of two anti-vehicle mines in Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro on Thursday, September 21, 2023.
Troops from the 68th Infantry "Kaagapay ng Mamamayan" Battalion were acting on information a concerned citizen regarding a food cache buried by communist terrorist rebels at Sitio Palbong in Barangay Batong Buhay. The information came to light during a program aimed at raising awareness about communist activities. This resulted in the recovery of one full container of rice and two anti-vehicle mines.
In a statement, 2nd Infantry "Jungle Fighter" Division Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong commended the vigilant citizens for their invaluable contribution to maintaining peace and security in Occidental Mindoro. He then emphasized the importance of collaboration between the community and the military in countering threats posed by communist terrorist groups and also urged other citizens to come forward with any information that could help neutralize potential dangers and protect the welfare of their fellow Filipinos.
