Ex-NPA leader tips off troops on hidden firearm in Batangas

Information from a former NPA leader led government forces to locate and retrieve a hidden firearm in San Juan, Batangas on Friday, January 26, 2024.

 

Troops of the 59th Infantry “Protector” Battalion acted on information from a former NPA leader regarding a firearm buried at Barangay Sapangan, leading them to unearth a shotgun in the area.

 

In a statement, the 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong commended the cooperation of the former NPA leader in providing crucial information that helped in the successful recovery of the shotgun. He also expressed optimism that this positive development would encourage other former insurgents to come forward and contribute to dismantling hidden weapon caches and promoting stability across the Southern Tagalog area.
