Former CPP-NPA-NDF supporter surrenders firearm in Quezon
CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal – A former CPP-NPA-NDF supporter who previously broke ties with the communist group last year yielded one high-powered firearm in Lopez, Quezon on Tuesday, March 14, 2023.
Troops of the 85th Infantry "Sandiwa" Battalion together with the Quezon PNP and Lopez PNP facilitated the surrender of one M16 rifle by a resident of Barangay Ilayang Ilog A who is a former CPP-NPA-NDF supporter and has familial ties with alias Ken, the squad leader of Platun Reymark from the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee’s Sub-Regional Military Area 4B.
"Together with our partners from the security sector and key stakeholders, we remain dedicated to continuing our peace efforts across Quezon province. We are calling on the remaining NPA members and their supporters to heed our government's call for peace and support our efforts to bring stability and development in Quezon," 2nd Infantry "Jungle Fighter" Division Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong said in a statement.
